With 78 km of paths crisscrossing meadows, lakes, and streams, the English Garden is a mecca for cyclists, runners, walkers, bladers, slackliners, and surfers. Most paths are not paved, but the follow the route below and you’ll get a great tour of the best of the garden.
The garden and has facilitated the active Munich lifestyle for over 225 years with beer gardens (Aumeister, Hirschau, and Chinese Tower), naked sunbathing Germans (really), surfers on the Eisbach (seriously, there are 2 surfing spots), views of the city and the Alps from the Monopteros, and pedal boats on the Kleinhesseloher lake, next to the Seehaus restaurant.
